Blue Iris Tech was founded in 2017 to help federal leaders navigate a changing government landscape with innovative solutions.
Our founder, a veteran of government consulting, wanted to build a new type of services company where trust and ingenuity could flourish.
Our name was inspired by our founder’s travels the year we got started! Shannon was traveling in France when she spotted a field of blue iris. She was immediately inspired by the resilient flower - which symbolizes wisdom, positive transformation, and boundless energy – and decided to name the company Blue Iris Tech. Much like the blue iris, which weathers change and blooms anew each year, Shannon and our team are dedicated to guiding federal leaders through all seasons.

With more than 15 years of experience in government services, technology consulting, and organizational leadership, Shannon Reneau is the Founder, President and CEO of Blue Iris Tech Consulting. Throughout her career, she has led and supported complex programs for federal agencies including the Department of Veterans Affairs, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Defense Health Agency, Department of the Air Force, and National Institute of Standards and Technology. Her experience spans program management, digital transformation, Agile software development, cybersecurity and compliance, financial management, operational strategy, and workforce development.
Shannon holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Science from the University of Colorado, a Master of Healthcare Administration from the University of Maryland, and a Graduate Certificate in Health Information Technology from George Washington University. Together, her education and hands-on experience have shaped her thoughtful, people-centered approach to solving complex organizational and technology challenges.
She founded Blue Iris Tech with a vision of building a company that delivers exceptional work while creating meaningful opportunities for talented professionals. As the leader of an SBA-certified 8(a) and Women-Owned Small Business, Shannon is especially passionate about supporting women, veterans, military spouses, and others seeking opportunities to grow and make an impact.
Looking ahead, Shannon is focused on helping government organizations responsibly adopt artificial intelligence, automation, and modern digital solutions that improve efficiency, strengthen mission outcomes, and make work easier for the people they serve.
Outside of work, Shannon’s favorite role is being a mom to her two young children. She loves traveling with her family, exploring new cities and cultures, and making memories through new experiences. Dance has also been a lifelong passion—from cheer and step to bachata and, more recently, line dancing. Shannon also enjoys writing and is developing a children’s book series inspired by the everyday experiences, personalities, and lessons of her children.
